Welcome to Precia.net, the official website of personal work by Precia Bowman. I am a Los Angeles based Multimedia Artist, Designer and Producer. Not only is this a personal portfolio, but a play space for me: it's more of a labor of love than an exercise in vanity. Humbly, I'm honored that you've stopped by to check out my current projects. To know me is to know that I am an advocate of expressing that creative side. I enjoy Art and Music and I love to mix the two as often as I can. I consider myself a student of Multimedia because it's always changing, which keeps the field challenging and exciting with new lessons. I LOVE to learn new things all the time!
I also built the site to have a "free" forum to express some things I may not want "owned" by so many social media sites. Sure, I like to network like the next person, but honestly, the Terms of Service or "TOS" on some of the websites out there has always made me nervous, so I've always believed in having a separate place to post my random "stuff" without all the terms associated with "membership". (Anyone else thinking Cambridge Analytica?). In a way, I owe those sites their due diligence: without websites like Black Planet and Geocities, I wouldn't have a had an open forum to practice code and make graphics while managing to discover professionals that design 24-7. Also, those sites gave me the opportunity to view some kick-ass designers like ThatBitch and FunkMedia, which inspired me to go back to school in Art in 2001. Always the artistic student with a knack for math, I've loved coding since the 4th grade, so when I learned HTML in 1998, it changed my world again.
I am also working on a few projects for Artists, so if you'd like to connect, please
contact me via social media.

So, if you've stumbled upon my little area here, I thank you and welcome you to a peek and poke around. There's plenty of music here, along with photos, graphics and little "Easter eggs" to try to keep it playful. It's personal, of course, but, cause as a "Precia", I represent the dichotomy of the name. I've only run across two other women named "Precia" in my life thanks to Facebook, and both have been very sweet women. According to Babynamespedia, though, the meaning of my name means "an important lady", while other sources state that is a name of American and / or Latin origin meaning "precious". Sadly, as obvious as it may be that the name Precia may be derived from "Precious", that is not how I got the misnomer on my head, however. As the story goes from my Mom, my Father was watching a blaxploitation movie sometime in 1974, which I later found out was called "Jive Turkey" (1974) aka Baby Needs a New Pair of Shoes" (1974). One of the character's names was "Pasha", and I guess my father's twisted sense of humor derived at "Precia" while watching this movie at the Drive-In. Sorry, I wish it were more complicated than that, but ... it's a beautifully uncommon name, and it's helped me throughout my career as a Paymaster for the Entertainment Industry. I do wish I could create full-time, but for now, I'm just happy to throw these little bits into the Universe. For me personally, an online presence is a personal accomplishment as well as mental exercise. So, I invite you to step in, explore, listen and "see" what I've been up to over the past few years creatively.

I'd like to dedicate this space to my mother, who passed in 2007. R.I.P. Beautiful Soul. Even twelve years later, I still think about you each and every day...
Thank you for letting me be me. All I've ever wanted to do was to make you proud, and I hope I do every day, Mom. I love you and miss you infinitely ... Thank you for my life.
I've had the distinct pleasure of going to Paramount Studios to work on a new Alan Ball series by way of Weirdo Productions under HBO. It was great to work on the Production with a good Payroll/Accounting Team, and I'm excited that it's going to premiere on February 11, 2018 on HBO (tonight) at 9pm. The synopsis from IMdb: "A multi-racial family made up of husband, wife, three adopted children from Somalia, Vietnam and Colombia and one biological child, find their bonds tested when one of the children begins seeing things which the rest cannot."
For the record, I'd like to say that I miss Prince, and cannot express the heartache I've felt over his passing over the several years. I am the fan who has a Prince song in my head all the time, because he was THE quintessential artist for me and a HUGE influence since the age of 4. I used to collect magazines in the early 80's for his glossy poses and would post his pictures on the wall along with many different recording artists that I dug at the time. (Got to find those ...)
I can't believe it's going to be almost 3 years since the World lost Prince ... the fact that there are now dedicated Podcasts and new Radio stations that have been created to play his music 24-7 is pretty amazing! As a fan who appreciates his music as well as his business savvy, I am also (admittingly) a collector of his B-Side jams and unreleased material. I can't help to think he now knows that I am that fan that hunted down his studio outtakes and extended mixes, the one who bought the game CD and owned some of the 45's and early cassettes. It was always a comfort to know he was in the world, constantly experimenting with music and sound. He was so much an influence on me in my childhood that I couldn't comprehend his death in 2016, let alone the circumstances and theories that surround it. But, in my mourning, I've made a conscious decision to go back to creating "Prince Art", which I started creating in 2001, and heavily after seeing him in Los Angeles and Bakersfield, California in 2004 during the release of "Musicology". I favored him in the 1980's, of course, because he was at the height of his fame and his sexiness, but my Prince obsession is still very real, more so than any other artist. The "background" above was created for a class web project I was doing when he passed ... just homage. Thank U 4 giving us unreleased music 2 listen 2 4 the rest of our lives.
Sometimes in life, you recognize that gratitude and appreciation are due to a few individuals in your life that deserve their own props. I don't think I would be able to continue to create if it weren't for a few people or entities that constantly influence me.
I'd like to thank Mr. Julius Liebke, a legend and inspiration that I wish I could thank infinitely for his early lessons into what would become one of my life's dreams. He was the vessel that opened my mind to the possibility that my world could be so much greater than my reality.
I'd also like to thank three Professors that were instrumental in my artistic growth: Greg Martin, Curtis Stage and Jacalyn Lopez-Garcia @ L.A. Mission College for the great semesters of design and guidance. The design of the site was inspired by my renewed training, and they are, by far, some of THE best professors I've ever had the good fortune of studying under.
Special thanks to FROSTEKZ for the graffiti tag that you see so much on this site. He's also a talented Producer of DubStep and Hip-Hop music. If you're interested in listening to a mix of his work we did back in 2009, please click his logo below to listen to a mix that's almost 2 hours long! Click the social media links below to visit him around the web.
Variousness
The various images and backgrounds you see here were all created by myself over the years. This site features pieces from 2002 – 2016 and photos from over the last 3 to 4 years. Not that Art or imagery should be explained, but I felt compelled to give a synopsis on some of the work you see here. My goal has always been about logical experimentation. Back in 1999, I found myself dabbling in HTML while trying to learn applications I use at any given time. My lust of Digital Art came only after I fell back in love with Traditional Art as a student, and I find that I love to combine the two. Currently, I'm exploring concepts in color and light with acrylics and heavy gels because I love to paint when I have the time. Los Angeles is such an electric catalyst for Post Modernism, too, and Art is everywhere! Shows like "Cannibal Flower" and Art Show along with spaces like Bergamot Station flanked with museums like LACMA and MOCA for the classical works elevated my understanding of all Art, even "genres" I'd never heard of, such as Synchromism and Ophism. I also became a 3-D image "whore", following sites like Deviant Art and phong.com to discover another world.
Some of the imagery in "Pieces" features mostly unreleased personal work, some of which lays in my physical portfolio or on my wall at home. I want to create more, possibly to show or to sell, but for now, I'm hoping this section will give you a brief view into some of the images I've created by request, for homework or practice. (I love being left-handed, but I'm insecure about it when it comes to drawing or the piano ... little known factoid).
Backgrounds
The 3D graphic was created in class as an animated logo. Sadly, this is one of the only renditions I could find from that version of Maya 2010, so I decided to make it an animated background.
The "new" Precia logo is a revised version of my original "WebToye" logo. There are two halves or "heads" in this logo to represent several things actually: the duality of my "colorful" character, horns for the Taurus aspect and two "faces" for the Gemini aspect based on my Ascendant ... sun, moon and space, Afrocentricity (tribal) ... bisexuality... In this case, the "Toye" half is the centered, creative and exposed part of my self, while the "Precia" half is blacked out [for now] ... would represent my private, experimental side, which absorbs, adores and explores. Overall, I consider myself a humbled Artist, with years of training in my crafts; Also, I don't limit this experiementation to just Art.
The piece above under the section called Wall is called "Bloodflag". I "reappropiated" borrowed vector images from Google images that I later pixelized and combined to apply a cloud rendering filter in PhotoShop. Yes, the image is not meant to be some type of masterpiece, but more a 'poetic' view on America now. In my political opinion, you can always speak your mind in America, thanks to the First Amendment. But, be careful what you say; the Second Amendment can get you killed in the Land of the Free, too.
The image in the section called Stereo is a stereographic image of my full name - or a "magic eye" layered in Rastafari colors. I honestly wanted to see if I could still see the name if I applied color. Depending on how tired I am, the names either sink in or pop out (cross-eyed) - so it can be seen two ways.
The last image on the page is my current desktop at home. It combines a model I posed in "Poser" over 10 years ago. I brought her into Bryce 3D a few years ago and applied a portion of my "Blue Girl" painting in the background. I have at least ten different versions of this image because I love creating "color series", and later using the images to either view a progressive slide show or a background changer, much like the "Rebecka" image. Possibly a future YouTube project???
Pieces
Please enjoy the section below I simply call "Pieces", so named after puzzle pieces from WebToye.net (coming soon). I really do love pencil drawing and use it as my first tool when designing logos. I didn't embrace acrylic until I became an Art major, but I love the possibilities it brings now, especially when mixing different types of paints and mediums! I do like using charcoal, but love using spray paint thanks to my upbringing in "The Valley". Some of the designs have been used on clothing, book covers and door frames. And of course, it gives me a chance to display some Prince. I love creating Digital Art, especially mixing 2D and 3D. Twenty images for now ... I hope to add or exchange images in the near future.

Although I’m not an actual carry and cart DJ, I do like to put together songs that I love. Below are a few mixes I have posted online at Mixcloud, along with one track I produced currently at SoundCloud. My musical ear is open to all genres of music and sound though, and I love how today's Producers continue to discover new ways to wow us with their interpretation of sound. I was heavily influenced by everything that played on L.A. radio during the period of the late 1970’s through the early 2000’s before my Brother turned me on to Underground music. Nowadays, I’m always interested in listening to new music and try to seek out tracks of different genres that'll seem to shape my continual personal soundtrack. If you’d like to take a listen, please press play and thanks for listening!
Finally, the 3 hour Prince mix I've been wanting to do since 2012, but sadly couldn't compile until now. Warning: this is an explicit mix of some of my favorite B-sides, unreleased tracks, remixes and extended plays. It's not for everyone ...
An eclectic 2 hour deep house mix featuring everybody from Me'Shell NdegeOcello to Goldlink to George Clinton ft Kendrick Lamar and a couple of tracks from Jill Scott.
Another 2 hour deep house mix inspired by Summer, good friends, good times, and good DJ's. Includes Lucy Pearl, Cheryl Lynn, Aretha Franklin, Curtis Mayfield, and Zapp and Roger remixed.
A 3 hour Liquid Funk / Drum and Bass mix which includes tracks by Lady Keir, Redeyes, Grooverider, London Elektricity, and lots of goodies and classics, all in 140 bpm figments of time to get through a long day.

I'm said to be supercalifragisexy and dark
A sexy mother fucker with a dirty mind
An international lover from the Erotic City
But nothing compares to you
My name is Prince, I am God
I lead the revolution of the girl slave
And rule the free New Power Generation
Through bloodshed to emancipation
There were thieves in the temple trying to escape
And they wanted the sacrifice of Victor, this curious child
So we'll march across the Graffiti Bridge
To the soul sanctuary
It was the plan to rescue my sister
Annie Christian from the arms of Orion
So that she will gratefully kiss the cross
Face down in honor
Then I saw you, the most beautiful girl in the world in the world strollin'
In Christopher Tracy's parade with the other boys and girls
Dreamin' about you, I could envision the future
And life can be so nice
You are my darling Nikki, my Venus De Milo
I'll worship you with diamonds and pearls and gold
Brought by elephants and flowers like pink cashmere
Speckled by lemon crush
If I was your girlfriend in this strange relationship,
You would see it's gonna be a beautiful night when 2 R in love,
I can't make you love me by one kiss at a time
And I could never take the place of your man
Is it because of the controversy in the New World;
That scandalous event in the morning papers?
A picture of me with Cindy C., the lady cab driver
Wearing only a raspberry beret
She was touching Anna Stesia, the sexy dancer,
Who was kissing an irresistible bitch named Bambi
We were all engaged in an insatiable act of sexuality
Next to the Holy River
As I was driving my little red corvette uptown
Along Alphabet Street near Paisley Park
I see 200 balloons floating across America
And I realized I wanna be your lover
Tell me how you wanna be done, Dionne
Because sexual suicide is not my style
The love we make was such a fascination
That silently, she gave her angels
For you, there is joy in repetition
Do U lie? Can I right the wrong?
"Eye" hate U because I adore you
I would die for you
We can have dinner with Dolores, one of the beautiful ones
We'll eat starfish and coffee, soft and wet,
Under a cherry moon outside my white mansion
And stare into space
Look into the crystal ball for the truth
Now is the age to be interactive and automatic
Seeing my computer blue, and emale in black
That says welcome to the dawn
17 days away from 1999
And chaos and disorder come
So let's go crazy and delirious
For the days of wild
I now count the days when doves cry
Still waiting for the thunder
In the mountains that will signify the purple rain
That will shower around the world in a day...
Anno Prince,
Upon deliverance, God learns Musicology intimately
As Prince stands among the moonbeams in black sweat
Sometimes, it snows in April
When there is no more Purple Music ...
Or otherwise known as various randomness around the world.
Although I love to travel, I'm no photographer by any means. However, I do like my iPhone's capabilities, especially in regards to panoramic pictures.
More to come soon ....
aka Art Speak
I love color and I want to use this space to share some of the things I love to do and feature some of things I am currently up to with color and sound. This site features work in 2D and 3D only, some still photos, photos of Art, photos of my Art, mixes and music, random words and thoughts on Art and Music, as well as personal Art pieces and present projects. I really do enjoy taking panoramic pictures in crazy angles as well as printing in flourescent colors with House music cranked up in my headphones. I love to create beats and write lyrics. I dig creating wallpapers, mixing media and applications to make something creative, whether it's basic, quirky or beautiful... I live to create, because creation is building.
I like to use Maya and Lightwave. I started on Bryce 3D and Poser over 15 years ago, but after meeting Candice and seeing her reel, I realized that I wanted to advance my 3D application knowledge. Admittingly, I still take classes from time to time to update my technical understanding of industry standard applications. The mp4 file at the top of the site is an animation of a "logo" idea I rendered out in Maya 3D. The picture above was a class exercise in lighting.
I would like to continue to model. Eventually, I'd like to get into 3D printing to materialize some of my ideas. I'd love to share your ideas or thoughts in this field, so if you've got them to share, please contact me.
I studied Andy Warhol for a while. I'm very heavily influenced by Pop Art in my own work, but I love Surrealism and Cubism the most. I am a huge fan of Post Modern Art and have travelled to a few cities just to catch an exhibit.
